4 More New 52 Titles Ending September!

Last week, DC Comics announced their 3rd wave of New 52 titles. Unlike the second wave this one includes only 4 new books, but still, questions were raised about which 4 titles would be getting axed - as we know DC wants to keep their books at 52 from now on. Today our questions were answered.

These are the 4 books ending this September with #0 (DC announced "0 Month", all of their books will be taking a 1-month break for an #0, which will give background information/origins for their characters in September.).

CAPTAIN ATOM

RESURRECTION MAN

VOODOO

JUSTICE LEAGUE INTERNATIONAL

None of these titles were particularly surprising choices except for one. While the other three had been the publishers weakest-selling titles, Justice League International had actually been a strong seller for the company. But with Rocket Red's funeral taking place in the 12th and final issue, many think that this is more a publicity stunt, and that JLI will make a return further down the road.

Here are the four books replacing them:

TALON - Writer James Tynion IV with co-plotter Scott Snyder. Artist: Guillem March.
Meet Calvin Rose, the only Talon to ever escape the grasp of the Court of Owls. This former assassin of the Court is trying to live a normal life ... but that’s impossible when he’s being hunted by his former masters!

SWORD OF SORCERY – Writer: Christy Marx. Artist: Aaron Lopresti.
Featuring the return of Amethyst, Amy Winston leads a strange life on the road with her mother and resents it. She’s about to learn it’s all been necessary when she discovers she’s the lost princess of Gemworld—and she’s being hunted by her murderous aunt. With a back-up story written by Tony Bedard with art by Jesus Saiz, set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, the monstrous warrior Beowulf is charged with finding and defeating the evil Grendel.

THE PHANTOM STRANGER - Writer: Dan DiDio. Artist: Brent Anderson.
Spinning out of his recent appearances in JUSTICE LEAGUE and DC’s Free Comic Book Day story, learn more about the true origin of The Phantom Stranger and his connection to the mysterious Pandora.

TEAM SEVEN - Writer: Justin Jordan. Artist: Jesus Merino.
Set in the early days of DC COMICS-THE NEW 52, threads of the entire DC Universe collide. As Superman emerges, so does the world’s counter measures against him and his kind. Team 7 is comprised of Dinah Lance, Amanda Waller, Steve Trevor, John Lynch, Alex Fairchild, Cole Cash, Slade Wilson — and their story will change everything you know about DC COMICS-THE NEW 52.

So, what did you guys think of the cancellations/replacements? Anything in there that you were a follower of? Interested in any of the new books? Feel free to comment.

Prometheus Review

Prometheus is one of this year's biggest summer blockbusters, and while it isn't the best film I've seen this summer it was still a great movie, and a must see for sci-fi fans whether you've seen the Alien films or not.

Prometheus follows the story of a group of scientists travelling to a distant planet under the watchful eye of Weyland Industries. They're going there after ancient signs seem to say that it was there that the human race came into existence. But, as soon as they step off the ship and start investigating the planets mysterious caves, things start to go wrong. Very wrong.

The plot is pulled off very well. It's well-paced, not wasting any time getting to the main story and is made even better by the great visual effects and fantastic cast. None of the actors in Prometheus deliver bad performances, but for me the two that stole the show were Noomi Rapace as Dr. Elizabeth Shaw, and Michael Fassbender as the creepy android, David. What helps as well is that these two are probably the most interesting characters in the movie.

Prometheus Video Review

The problems I had with this movie are, firstly, it felt like it didn't have to be in 3D. IMAX may be fine, but when it comes to plain ol' 3D it felt unnecessary. That's not to say the 3D here was bad, it just didn't add much to the film.
Secondly, I couldn't help but be disappointed by the ending. I'm not going to spoil anything, but I think it just a left many questions unanswered. I get that this is a prequel and some of the questions may be followed up in the Alien films, but it seems to me that Ridley Scott wants to turn Prometheus into a franchise of its own. And that may well happen if it does well at the Box Office. But I also think that maybe the questions brought up in the movie were a little too big for Ridley and co. to answer.

But, overall Prometheus is not to be missed. It's a great movie, for sci-fi fans and can easily be watched as a stand-alone sci-fi movie due to it not being too heavily connected to the Alien films. The acting is brilliant, the effects look beautiful (whether you see it in 2D or 3D) and the movie will keep you on the edge of your seat until the slightly disappointing ending.

The Entertainment Network's Week in Review: 4/6/12

Please watch the new weekly show from The Entertainment Network - Week in Review. Giving you a brief recap of the biggest stories of the past week.

E3 2012: Ubisoft's Watchdogs

SHOCKER! A new IP at E3! At the end of their show, Ubisoft unleashed a trailer for new game Watchdogs and a great demo which looked mindblowing.
The game follows what seems like some kind of network of hackers working to free the world from a government which controls us. While the plot wasn't made entirely clear, that's what it seemed like to me.

The game had a great look to it and has a truly original concept. When the character was messing with traffic lights (to cause accidents), and turning everyone's phones off (to create a diversion), I couldn't help but think: Awesome, Clever, Excited.

I really hope that whenever this game comes out, it doesn't disappoint. I think its got a lot of potential, it looked awesome (and with some great voice-acting/facial animations may I add), and plus - it was just a breath of  fresh air to see a new IP.

More details are bound to come our way soon, so keep checking TEN!

E3 2012: Dance Central 3? Why!!!

OK, we've had enough. Like Guitar Hero, and all the crazes that came before, this is getting pointless. Dance Central 3 is coming to Kinect to make you look like an idiot again. Alright, that was harsh. The Dance Central games are good for what they are. You can have a laugh at a party with them, but they're coming and going every year and not a whole lot is changing.

And the performance from Usher? Please.

Harmonix are smart people, I wish they'd come up with something new.

Anyway, Dance Central 3 is coming out this Fall, and will feature dance moves from different decades...

E3 2012: Tomb Raider for 360

Yup, still looks awesome.

Tomb Raider looks incredible. The graphics still looks beautiful, and the gameplay itself just seems really clever.  Requiring you to think through how you kill the bad guys and not just come in all guns blazing, which is a real breath of fresh air.

Not to mention the fact that the games setpieces and cutscenes feel incredibly cinematic and exciting. I wish there was a slight improvement on Lara's voice, but apart from that, this already looks like a game of the year when it comes out next year.

And of course, XBOX will be getting the first DLC exclusively.....for a couple of months.
