Goodbye.

I can't believe the day has finally arrived. I created The Entertainment Network when I was thirteen years old, and it has been a huge part of my life ever since. Leaving it behind has been harder than I expected, but I'm confident that this is the right decision.

Why am I leaving? I recently started a degree in Journalism, and so my once far-fetched career aspirations are slowly getting closer to reality. As much as I love this website, it is weighed down by a lot of the baggage left behind by thirteen year old me.

So I'm moving on to a brand new site, and a fresh start. I present to you: Movies & Cool Stuff

Movies & Cool Stuff will cover much the same topics as The Entertainment Network has (movies, comic-books etc), but will do so on a cleaner and more capable website. Moving from Blogger to Wordpress has opened up a lot of new possibilities, and I'm pushing myself to write better than ever before.

Thank you for following The Entertainment Network. I really hope you'll check out the new site. For now, this is goodbye. I might check in from time-to-time, but for now I have to focus on building Movies & Cool Stuff (and my degree, of course).

A big thanks to Blogger and this little space of Internet I've called home for the last six years. Thanks for all the memories.

Until next time,

David Craig

TEN to Publish First Book

We'd like to take this moment to apologise to any followers for the lack of updates to our site recently, but rest assured it's for good reason. I'm David Craig writer for The Entertainment Network, and I'm excited to announce that we intend to publish our first book before the end of the year. It's hard to give concrete details, because as my Politics teacher once told me there are no certainties in life, but if all goes to plan our first book will be published no later than this October.

10,000 words in, and still nowhere near close to finishing. All I can say is that the book is (unsurprisingly) about films. For further details keep your eyes peeled on TEN's Facebook page and Twitter account as more announcements are on the way.

Update: Is This Site Still Active?

Hello everyone, it's me David - the founder and sole writer of The Entertainment Network. I wanted to write this post so that the few people who follow this site will know exactly what's going on, particularly why it's been a while since it was last updated. Recently I was accepted onto the writing team of the fast-growing site Comic Bastards. I'm enjoying writing stuff for them, but it makes my already limited time, even more limited. Unfortunately, I don't have time to write for two sites - I barely have time to write for one - and so until such times as I leave the Comic Bastards team, updates on this site are going to be minimal.

It makes me sad because I love this site a lot, and I'm very proud of how far it's come. You may be reading this and thinking, "Does he know he only has 34 likes on Facebook and most of those are his friends who don't actually read the stuff he posts?" Yes I do. But still, cosmetically the site has come a long way (it now looks super snazzy), and while I still don't have a huge audience, the number of people reading the site has grown a lot in the last few years and considering I've never advertised this site anywhere I think that's quite cool.

Anyway, I'm going to try and update this site whenever I can but sadly I probably won't be writing for it as much as I should be. In the meantime, follow me on Comic Bastards. Click here to see all the posts I've written for that website.

In the meantime, stay frosty everyone.

Changes At TEN: What's Going On?

Hey guys,

It's been a busy few months and I feel I should explain what's going on with TEN at the moment. First of all, let me explain why we've been making so many videos rather than written posts.
The main reason for the amount of videos is largely because I felt that our YouTube channel was not being put to good use and so have devoted myself to putting up at least one video every week. This was encouraged by one of our videos getting over 70,000 views! However, making videos is time consuming - a lot more so than writing posts - and due to this and other events happening in my personal life there simply hasn't been time to write our most popular features such as our videogame and comic sales reports.

Rest assured these features are coming back, but I'll get to that later.

Another factor that has resulted in less posts here is that I am now a writer for the awesome entertainment website What Culture! This has been an amazing opportunity, and I've had a lot of fun writing posts for them which you should check out on the link above! However, because I've been putting all my efforts into giving them the best material possible there has been less time to post here.

So what's this all leading to? Overall, a stronger TEN than ever before. In fact, the Summer of TEN is starting June 20th 2013 and is going to see this new and improved TEN kick into high gear with a relaunch of our site. Now, after a lot of different design ideas we decided that we are happy with how the site itself looks, but things will be changing.

First of all you may have noticed that our logo has been revamped - check out our old/new comparison below:

The Old TEN...

Next, we're going to be posting more than ever before. Our schedule is much clearer this Summer than it has been for a long time, so prepare for more YouTube shows but also more posts including the return of our aforementioned sales reports and written reviews as well as a bunch of brand new stuff!

We appreciate you for reading this and hope you'll stick around for more exciting news coming soon!

Update Time!

Over the past few weeks I've been behind the scenes fixing bugs and making everything on this site run a bit smoother. I've created a new scoring system which I have enforced on every review on the site. I have also made sure that each post's thumbnails are correct and that there aren't more than one "Read More" button on each post.

One of the most annoying problems that this site has encountered have been the buttons at the top of the right-hand sidebar not working. (These are the "Popular", "Tags" and "Blog Archives" buttons. I'm happy to announce that these are now fixed, so if you want to see a certain type of post or go back to a particular week or year - you can.

These things seem like small changes - and I guess they are kind of. But they will still make things look and work a lot better around the site.

You may also notice the slightly updated logo. I changed the colour scheme so that it would match the menu bar and added the 5-Star sign that has been used as our Favicon since near the beginning of this site.

I hope you like these little changes, if you don't feel free to comment and let me know! If you want any other changes made, I'm always open to suggestions.

What has Happened to this Website??

Things are looking a little different around here as of late - you may be wondering why. Well here it is:

To celebrate our first birthday we decided to take the leap from blog to website. Our domain name will stay the same, to avoid creating dead links all over our facebook and twitter page - but there will be some changes.

While we decided to keep our name as "The Entertainment Network," technically - we are no longer a network. We're still going to report on Movies, Games, TV, Comics, Books and Music - but it will all be in the same place, rather than on different sites.

As a result of this we had to import our posts from around the network, to this site - so that's why there's a lot of random, old posts everywhere.

Normality will return soon enough - meanwhile comment below or head to our forums to voice your opinions on the changes.
